Altius Handcrafted Firearms Biathlon Shooting Camp June 24-28, 2009 |
|
This camp is designed for aspiring Biathletes with some experience and their own equipment. It provides an opportunity for athletes new to Biathlon to learn the fundamentals of rifle fit, shooting position, and race strategy. It is also available to experienced shooters as an opportunity to review the basics and evaluate and improve their technique. The camp is offered and organized by Marc Sheppard of Altius Handcrafted Firearms www.altiusguns.com, the only Biathlon speciality shop in the world and the only Anschutz Factory Service Center for Biathlon. Get the benefit of Marc's 14+ years of Biathlon competition experience as a Winter and Summer Biathlon competitor and as the Program Director for Summer Biathlon and Team Leader for the Summer Biathlon World Championships Team. |

Mountain Bike Biathlon June 27, 2009 |

The 12th Annual Summer Biathlon is offering a new twist this year with a mountain bike biathlon. Everyone is welcome to participate. You do not have to have any biathlon experience. Safety class and loaner rifles with ammunition will be available for those without their own. Participants must have a mountain bike, rental bikes available from local shops. (Freeheel and Wheel 406-646-7744 and Yellowstone Bicycles 406-646-7815) Helmets are required. Two divisions are offered, Match Class (biathletes with their own rifles and experience) and Sport Class (novices). The race will be 7.5k of mountain bike riding with two shooting bouts, prone and standing. Athlete gift, prizes in Sport and Match divisions by age groups are included in the registration fee. This event is sponsored by Altius Handcrafted Firearms and presented by the West Yellowstone Ski Education Foundation. |

The Biathlon Range
The Rendezvous Ski Trails are home to one of the largest Biathlon training sites in the U.S., second only to the Soldier Hollow 2002 Olympic Venue in the Western U.S. With a maximum size of 24 shooting lanes, the range has hosted National Championships, North American Cup events, and Olympic Team Trials. It is open for individual and team use throughout the year by contacting the Program Director for West Yellowstone Ski Education Foundation at the email address listed at the bottom of the page.
